my photography:  an invitation                        cindy chadwick
to see the world through my eyes

Many photographers are camera 'techies' who love to shoot photos that show off their technical skills.  They shoot
some truly amazing photos.  That is not, however, what my own photography is about.

For me, photography is all about my subject, pure and simple. It is my way of saying
Wow!  Look at this!  Can you
believe how beautiful (awe-inspiring, funny, incredible...) this is?
It is not about how amazing I am as a
photographer; it is about how amazing this world we live in is.

In each photograph, I try to capture my own sense of wonder at what a remarkable place we inhabit.  Through my
photos, I hope to serve as a lens through which others might see the everyday world in ways that surprise, delight
or move them and, hopefully, in ways that will evoke thoughtful reflection on the importance of preserving our
visual environment.

For more than thirty years, Cindy privately indulged her compulsion to capture in photographs those things that
caught her eye and moved her heart.  Self-taught, she worked hard to learn how to make the camera see what she
saw.  Yet she rarely shared her work with anyone...and then it was only one photograph, once in a very great
while, with one supportive family member or friend.

In July of 2004, her daughter Katie, age 17, passed quickly from this life as the result of a cerebral hemorrhage.
Katie's identical twin Shannon headed for college in the fall of 2005, and through a pure stress reaction, Cindy--the
woman who never shared her photography with anyone--began displaying and selling her photography at regional
and national juried fine art shows, galleries, and one-woman exhibitions.
